From brief to launch in 4 weeks: a Moroccan website case study
A real case study of a website project for a Moroccan business: from initial brief to live site in 4 weeks. Process, decisions, and results.
Theory is useful. Real examples are better. Here's a detailed walkthrough of an actual website project we completed for a Moroccan service business: from the initial contact to a live, converting website in exactly 4 weeks. Names and some details are changed for client confidentiality, but the process, timeline, and results are real.
Week 1: Discovery and strategy
Day 1–2: Initial call. The client (a professional services firm in Casablanca) had an outdated WordPress site with a Lighthouse score of 28, no mobile optimization, and a contact form that had been broken for "a few months." They were getting leads from word of mouth and wanted their website to start contributing.
Day 3–4: Competitor analysis. We reviewed 5 similar firms in Casablanca. Findings: all had WordPress sites, none scored above 50 on Lighthouse, and only 1 had a working WhatsApp integration. Low bar. But also a clear opportunity.
Day 5: Content strategy document delivered. 7 pages: Home, About, 3 Service pages, Contact, and a Testimonials page. Key decisions: French as primary language, WhatsApp as primary CTA, and a simplified contact form (3 fields).
Week 2: Design
Day 6–8: Design exploration. We presented 2 design directions: one modern and bold, one clean and professional. The client chose clean and professional. Their clients are corporate decision-makers who value trust over creativity.
Day 9–10: Full design delivery for all 7 pages in Figma. Mobile and desktop versions. Client feedback: minor color adjustments, a different hero image approach, and a request to add a specific service to the homepage. All reasonable feedback. Revisions completed same day.
Week 3: Development
Day 11–15: Development sprint. Built with Next.js 16, deployed on Vercel. Key development decisions: server-side rendering for SEO, automatic WebP image conversion, and Cloudflare DNS with CDN. Contact form built with validation, honeypot spam protection, and encrypted email delivery. WhatsApp floating button with pre-filled message. GA4 configured with contact form submission and WhatsApp click as conversion events.
Week 4: Content, testing, and launch
Day 16–18: Content integration. The client provided text in a Google Doc. We formatted, structured, and integrated it into the site. We rewrote 3 paragraphs that were too generic and added specific data points that strengthen credibility.
Day 19–20: Testing. Cross-browser testing (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). Cross-device testing (iPhone SE, Samsung Galaxy A54, iPad, MacBook, Windows desktop). Accessibility check with axe DevTools. Performance verification: Lighthouse score 98/100 on first pass, optimized to 100/100 after fixing one image loading issue.
Day 21: Launch. DNS propagation, SSL verification, Google Search Console submission, sitemap upload. Site live at the new URL. Old WordPress site redirected.
Results after 30 days
Performance: Lighthouse score from 28 to 100. Page load time from 4.2 seconds to 0.8 seconds. Conversions: 14 contact form submissions in the first month (vs 0 in the previous month with the broken form). 23 WhatsApp clicks tracked as conversion events. SEO: Indexed in Google within 3 days. First page 1 ranking for their primary service keyword within 3 weeks.
What made it work in 4 weeks
Clear scope: 7 pages, no feature creep. Responsive client: Feedback within 24 hours at every stage. Content ready: The client had their text prepared before design was complete. No WordPress: No plugin configuration, no theme customization, no compatibility issues. A custom build with modern tools is faster than wrestling WordPress into shape. Every time.
